Glenn Richard Wiering

Glenn Richard Wiering, 63, of Lyons, Kansas, passed away October 15, 2023, at Hutchinson Regional Medical Center, Hutchinson, Kansas. He was born September 6, 1960, in Tyler, Minnesota, the son of Clarence and Fran (Janiszeski) Wiering, and also the son of Agnus. Glenn has resided in Lyons since fall of 1981, formerly of Tyler, Minnesota. He graduated from Tyler High School, Tyler, Minnesota; and later graduated from Granite Falls Vocational School in May of 1981. Glenn worked at the Lyons Salt Plant for twenty years, helped install all the electrical wiring and lights at Park School, Lyons, and worked at Ace Hardware, Lyons. He enjoyed woodworking, gardening, singing karaoke, and most of all spending time with his grandchildren. On June 15, 2002, Glenn was united in marriage with Adelfina Martinez in Lyons. She survives of the home. He is also survived by his parents; Clarence and Agnus of Tyler, MN; nine children, Ashley Graham and husband Blake of Goddard, KS, April Rottinghaus and husband Tyler of Overland Park, KS, Amanda Friesen and husband Derek of Hutchinson, KS, Alicia Arce of Lyons, KS, Ana Marie Arce of Decatur, IL, Yvonne Lange and husband James of Hutchinson, KS, Joe Anthony Arce of McPherson, KS, Jesse Arce of Chicago, IL, and Marcella Werner and husband C.J. of McPherson, KS; fifteen siblings, Sue and husband Paul Serie, Greg Wiering, Shirley and husband Lowell Thooft, Gary Wiering, Sandy and husband Scott Sester, Sheela Warner, Galen and wife SuLin Wiering, Maureen and husband Don DeVlieger, Robert and wife Nancy Blomme, Larry and wife Beth Bloome, Joyce and husband Andy Hedlin, John and wife Kristi Blomme, Davie Blomme and wife Melissa Anderson, Dean Bloome, and Rick and wife Aimee Blomme; brother-in-law, Keith VanOverbeke; nineteen grandchildren, Gage and Cannon Graham, Brynlee and Briggs Rottinghaus, Greyson Friesen, Dayne, Siarra, Gavin, and Jacob Beham, Dylan, Monique, Amber, and Tory White, Adrian and Amanda Lange, Tahnika Miles, Mercades, Issac, and Kaiden Arce; seven great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews. Glenn is preceded in death by his mother, Fran; siblings, Donald Blomme, Lori Blomme, Jane Bloome, Mary Kay Wiering, and Stacy Wiering. Funeral service will be at 2:00 P.M., Monday, October 23, 2023, at Birzer Funeral Home, Lyons, with Father Michael Brungardt officiating. Memorials may be given to the American Cancer Society in care of Birzer Funeral Home, Lyons.
