Gerald "Jerry" Linenberger

Gerald “Jerry” Linenberger, 82, of Sterling, passed away May 5, 2018 at his home in Sterling. He was born on December 22, 1935 in Hoisington, KS, the son of Alexander and Elizabeth Randa Linenberger. He grew up in Olmitz, KS and attended Otis Rural High School. Jerry has resided in Sterling since 2004, formerly of Lakewood, Colorado. He was a welding supervisor for Stearns- Rogers Manufacturing in their General Iron Plant in Englewood, CO from 1961 to 1985, and from 1957 to 1961, he worked as a welder for O’Neill Tank Company, Inc. in Great Bend, KS. Jerry was a troop leader and pack treasurer for Boy Scouts of America from 1969 to 1974. He also was an assistant group leader for Camp Fire Girls from 1973 to 1978. He enjoyed pheasant hunting, traveling, photography, gardening, wood working, metal art work, and was an avid card player and Denver Broncos fan. He served in the United States Army from 1955 to 1957 and the U.S. Army Reserves from 1957 to 1961. On June 11, 1958, Gerald was united in marriage with Victoria Ramirez at St. Ann’s Catholic Church in Olmitz, KS. She survives of the home. Other survivors include his two sons, Dennis and Linda Linenberger of Lakewood, CO, and Michael and Shelly Linenberger of Wilsonville, OR; daughter, Cynthia and Jerry Butler of New Castle, CO; 5 grandchildren, Renee Linenberger, Joshua and Melanie Linenberger, Steven and Roger Linenberger, Jordyn Linenberger, and Greg and Brenda Gallegos; 5 great grandchildren, Keegan and Kennedy Linenberger, and Nicole, Dominic, and Diondra Gallegos; and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, brothers, Paul, Tony, Eugene, Sylvester and Gilbert Linenberger; sisters, Bette Radke, Marie Holeman, Edith Gottschalk, Linda Lowe and Ann Connally. Funeral Mass will be 11:00 A.M., Thursday, June 7, 2018 at St. Ann’s Catholic Church, Olmitz, Kansas with Father Anselm Eke officiating. In Lieu of flowers memorials can be made to Presbyterian Manor, Sterling or Rice County Friends of Animals in care of Birzer Funeral Home, Sterling.
