Georgia Gertrude (Shepherd) Molder

Georgia Gertrude Molder, 96, a lifetime resident of Lyons, KS, passed away February 10, 2021 at Hospital District #1 of Rice County, Lyons. She was born January 17, 1925 on the family farm northwest of Lyons, the daughter of George Melvin and Sarah Teresa (Blakely) Shepherd. Georgia was a 1943 graduate of Lyons High School and a member of the First Christian Church, Lyons. On August 16, 1945, Georgia was united in marriage with Cleo Earl “Bill” Molder in Salina, Kansas. He preceded her in death on April 8, 1980. Georgia was a secretary at the Rice County Extension Office for 46 years, retiring in May, 2002. Georgia loved working with 4-H youth and chaperoning 4-H exchange trips. Her love of farm life included gardening, caring for farm animals, and watching wildlife. She loved music and enjoyed attending concerts and music theatre. Family was an important part of Georgia’s life and she enjoyed spending time with her nieces, nephews and their families Georgia is survived by her nieces and nephews, Alnita Boldt of Bushton, KS; Linda Koons of Cheyenne, WY; Doug Shepherd and wife Charisse of Lyons, KS; David Shepherd and wife Ellen of Loveland, CO; and Louise Kearney and husband Tom of McPherson, KS; numerous great nieces and nephews, great- great nieces and nephews, and great-great-great nieces and nephews. Preceding her in death were her parents; two sisters, infant Evalyn Shepherd, and Virginia Goudy (and her husband Virgil); two brothers, Lowell Shepherd (and his wife Juanita), and Elwin Shepherd (and his wife Helen); and nephew, Paul Shepherd (and his wife Joyce); Eugene Boldt and Larry Koons. A virtual service will be held at 2:00 P.M., Friday, February 19, 2021 on Birzer Funeral Home’s Facebook page.
