Francisca (Perez) Martinez

Francisca Martinez, 89, of Chase, Kansas, passed away June 6, 2024, at Hospital District #1 of Rice County, Lyons, Kansas. She was born October 10, 1934, in San Antonio, Texas, the daughter of Atanacio and Beatrice Perez. Francisca has resided in Chase since 1969, formerly of Lubbock, Texas. She was a homemaker. Francisca was a member of St. Paul Catholic Church, Lyons. She loved taking care of and spending time with her family. On March 17, 1952, Francisca was united in marriage with Raul “Rudy” Martinez in San Antonio, Texas. He preceded her in death on June 8, 2022. She is also preceded in death by her parents; daughter, Janie Werner; three brothers, Fabian Perez, Pantaleon Perez, and Estanislado Perez; five sisters, Juanita Perez, Victoria Lopez, Sebastiana Rodriquez, Catalina Rivera, and Crestina Herrera; and grandson, Victor Werner. Francisca is survived by her three sons, Lasaro “Larry” Martinez and wife Dee of Lyons, KS, Raul Martinez and wife Karen of Lyons, KS, and Luis Martinez of Chase, KS; three daughters, Sally Lopez and husband Martin of Lyons, KS, Mary Lopez and husband Juan of Topeka, KS, and Beatrice Olson and husband Gary of Lyons, KS; three sisters, Rosalia Rivera, Maria Elena Valdez, and Yolanda Sanchez; and numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren. Funeral mass will be at 10:30 A.M., Tuesday, June 11, 2024, at St. Paul Catholic Church, Lyons, with Father Michael Brungardt officiating. Burial will follow at the Lyons Municipal Cemetery, Lyons. Visitation will be from 2:00 until 7:00 P.M., Monday, June 10, 2024, at Birzer Funeral Home, Lyons, with family present from 5:00 until 7:00 P.M. A rosary will be said at 7:00 P.M. Memorials may be given to St. Paul Catholic Church in care of Birzer Funeral Home, Lyons.
