Ethel “Georgene” Scott, 92, of Lyons, Kansas, passed away August 14, 2020 at Good Samaritan Society of Lyons. She was born February 23, 1928 in Hutchinson, the daughter of George Arthur and Ethel Louise Ward Brownlee. Georgene has been a lifelong Lyons resident. She graduated from Lyons High School with the class of 1947, and later attended Salt City Business College and Barton County Community College. Georgene was a homemaker. She was a member of St. Paul Catholic Church and Altar Society, former President of the Women’s Golf League, member of Silver Haired Legislators, and Democrat Women’s Association. Red Hatters. Georgene served on the Rice County Historical Society Board, was a bookkeeper for Meals on Wheels. On September 8, 1947, Georgene was united in marriage with E. Loren Cline in Lyons. They later divorced. On July 10, 1970, Georgene was united in marriage with Dale Scott in Lyons. He preceded her in death on August 18, 2001. Georgene is also preceded in death by her parents; infant brother, George Arthur Brownlee IV; and three grandsons, Steve Harmon, Andy Johnson and Chaz Waldren. She is survived by her four children, Patricia L. Cline of Bangor, ME, E. Marie Cline-Woodruff of Salina, KS, Curtis B. Cline of Lyons, and Samuel L. Cline and wife Carol of Lyons; sister, Clara L. Wingfield of Aurora, CO; seventeen grandchildren; twenty-seven great-grandchildren; and seven great-great-grandchildren. Funeral Mass will be at 10:30 A.M., Tuesday, August 18, 2020 at St. Paul Catholic Church, Lyons with Father Patrick Kotrba officiating. Burial will be at Lyons Municipal Cemetery. Visitation will be from 2:00 until 7:00 P.M., Monday, August 17, 2020 at Birzer Funeral Home, Lyons with family present. A parish rosary will be said at 7:00 P.M. Memorials may be given to St. Paul Catholic Church or Good Samaritan Society of Lyons in care of Birzer Funeral Home, Lyons.
