Esther Margaret Suhler, 101, of Salina, Kansas, formerly of Lyons, passed away December 24, 2019 at Pinnacle Park, Salina. She was born January 29, 1918 in Marshall, Minnesota, the daughter of Edwin and Mathilda Weidauer Wild. Esther was a Lyons resident since 1937; formerly Marshall, Minnesota. She owned and operated Washateria, Suhlers Coin-op, Suhlers Roll Arena, and Quivira Café. Esther was a member of Grace Lutheran Church, Lyons, life member of VFW Auxiliary, Lyons, life member of American Vets #11, Hutchinson, KS, and American Legion Auxiliary, Lyons. On September 26, 1937, Esther was united in marriage with Marvin J. Suhler in Lyons. He preceded her in death on July 2, 1968. She is also preceded in death by her parents; sons, Edwin Suhler and Bill Wild; brother, Floyd Wild; and sisters, Caroline Dwire and Alma Dwire. Esther is survived by her daughter, Bonnie Baldwin of Salina; half-sisters, Betty Pyle of Temple City, CA, Roxanna Seymour of Forrest Grove, OR, and Phyllis Schmidt of Osakis, MN; five grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; and five great-great-grandchildren. Funeral service will be at 1:00 P.M., Saturday, December 28, 2019 at Birzer Funeral Home, Lyons with Pastor Lori Persigehl officiating. Burial will be at Lyons Municipal Cemetery. Visitation will be from 12:00 P.M. until service time at Birzer Funeral Home, Lyons with family present. Memorials may be given to Grace Lutheran Church, Lyons or Interim Health Care (Hospice) in care of Birzer Funeral Home, Lyons.
