Elvira M. "Vera" (Pfannenstiel) Adams

Elvira M. “Vera” Adams, of Lyons, Kansas, passed away January 4, 2023, at Hospice House, Hutchinson. She was born August 31, 1934, in LaCrosse, Kansas, the daughter of John and Emmerencia Munsch Pfannenstiel. Vera has resided in Lyons since 2010, formerly of Chase, Kansas. She was a homemaker. Vera was a member of the St. Mary’s Catholic Church, Chase, St. Paul Catholic Church, Lyons, and St. Joseph Catholic Church, McPherson. She loved playing bingo, listening to polka music and most of all spending time with her family and grandchildren. On September 10, 1957, Vera was united in marriage with John G. Adams in Great Bend, Kansas. He preceded her in death on September 7, 2011. She is also preceded in death by her parents; four brothers; and three sisters. Vera is survived by her two sons, Curtis Adams and wife Melody of Lyons, KS, and Johnny Adams and wife Monica of Dallas, TX; daughter, Rena McKenna and husband Jerry of Holyrood, KS; brother, Herbert Pfannenstiel of Broken Arrow, OK; three sisters, Phyllis Debes of Lyons, KS, Linda Noltensmeier of Bakersfield, CA, and Twila Griffith of Lake Isabella, CA; eight grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren. A Rosary will be said at 10:30 A.M., Saturday, February 4, 2023, at Birzer Funeral Home, Lyons, with Father Will Stuever officiating. Burial will follow at St. Mary’s Cemetery, Chase. Visitation will be from 9:30 A.M. until service time at the funeral home. Memorials may be given to St. Paul Catholic Church, Lyons or Hospice House in care of Birzer Funeral Home, Lyons.
