Elaine (Farris) Evans

Elaine Evans, 83, of Lyons, Kansas, passed away January 13, 2022, at Hospital District #1 of Rice County, Lyons. She was born February 23, 1938, in Webb, Oklahoma, the daughter of Alton and Inabel Burton Farris. Elaine grew up in Oklahoma and moved to Chase, Kansas, in 1964. She and Eck moved to Lyons eight years later, then to the family farm near Mitchell. Elaine graduated from Taloga High School, Taloga, Oklahoma, with the class of 1956. She worked alongside Eck at Evans Printing and Evans Farms for many years. Elaine was a member of the Church of the Nazarene, Lyons, member of the Peacemakers Quilt Guild, and member of Dolittle Camp Club in Alva, Oklahoma. She loved flying and had her pilots license with an instrument rating. Elaine also enjoyed cooking, sewing, and camping with Eck in their RV. On May 17, 1956, Elaine was united in marriage with Eck Evans in Taloga, OK. They shared 65 years together. He survives of the home. She is also survived by her sister, Gene Myers and husband John of Alva, OK; niece and nephew, Mike and Julie Myers of Alva, OK; and niece and husband, Marilyn and Robin Rose of Haviland, KS; and a host of other relatives and friends. Elaine is preceded in death by her parents; and daughter, Vicki Evans. Graveside service will be at 2:00 P.M., Wednesday, January 19, 2022, at Lyons Municipal Cemetery, Lyons, with Dr. Donald Strohmeyer officiating. Memorials may be given to Life on Life Ministries, Wichita, in care of Birzer Funeral Home, Lyons.
