Dorothy Marie (Rogers) Skinner

Dorothy Marie Skinner, 81, of Lyons, Kansas, passed away August 12, 2023, at The Arbors, Hutchinson, Kansas. She was born August 29, 1941, in Holly Grove, Arkansas, the daughter of Leonard V. and Mary Ailene (Booker) Rogers. Dorothy has resided in Lyons since 2011, formerly of Holly Grove, Arkansas. She graduated from Holly Grove High School, with the class of 1959. Dorothy worked as a Certified Nurse Aid and Certified Med Aide at the Good Samaritan Society of Lyons, and Hospital District #1 of Rice County for many years. She was a member of the Church of Christ, Windom. Dorothy enjoyed gardening and most of all spending time with her family. On June 13, 1959, Dorothy was united in marriage with Henry A. Skinner in Holly Grove. He preceded her in death on October 15, 2005. She is also preceded in death by her parents; and sister, Catherine Formolo. Dorothy is survived by eight children, Donna Martin (Tracy) of Hutchinson, KS, Bobby Skinner (Michelle) of Lyons, KS, Virginia Martinez of Norton, KS, Pamela Teeter (Mark) of Sterling, KS, Judy Simmons (Steve) of Norton, KS, Amber Skinner of Hays, KS, Andrea Hlady (Ryan) of Rochester, MN, and Ashley Campbell (Cody) of Hays, KS ; three sisters, Mary Rogers of Memphis, TN, Loretta McCallie (James) of Olive Branch, MS, and Patricia Skinner of Holly Grove, AR; fifteen grandchildren, T.J. Martin, Teanne Martin, Dustin Skinner, Brandon Skinner, Adison Skinner, Shaun Teeter, Christopher Teeter, Jordan Teeter, Alisha Simmons, Breyer Simmons, Connor Simmons, Elaina Hlady, Elyse Hlady, Ada Campbell, and Leo Campbell; and thirteen great-grandchildren, Landen Skinner, Zane Skinner, Rylie Skinner, Jagger Skinner, Reed Teeter, Logan Teeter, Hunter Teeter, Brooklynn Teeter, Jentry Teeter, Rhett Teeter, Ericksen Simmons, Tatum Simmons, and Beau Simmons. Funeral service will be at 10:00 A.M., Wednesday, August 16, 2023, at Birzer Funeral Home, Lyons, with Kenny Graham officiating. Burial will follow at 4:00 P.M., Wednesday, August 16, 2023, at the Norton Cemetery, Norton, Kansas. Visitation will be from 2:00 until 7:00 P.M., Tuesday, August 15, 2023, at Birzer Funeral Home, Lyons, with family present from 5:00 until 7:00 P.M. Memorials may be given to Gentiva Hospice or The Arbors in care of Birzer Funeral Home, Lyons.
