Donald Jean "Don" Minix

Donald Jean “Don” Minix, 78 of Raymond, Kansas, passed away April 8, 2021 at Hospital District #1 of Rice County, Lyons, Kansas. He was born February 2, 1943 in Falls City, Nebraska, the son of William J. and Wilma Arnold Minix. Don graduated from Alden High School with the class of 1961. He has resided in Kansas since 1949. Don was a machinist for local machine shops, pumped oil wells and helped Doug Caywood farm for sixteen years. He was a former board member for USD 401 Chase-Raymond School District, former Raymond Council member, member of the Raymond Fire Department, and Republican Committeeman for Raymond Township. Don enjoyed fishing and woodworking. On October 27, 1962, Don was united in marriage with Nancy Harrison in Raymond, Kansas. She survives of the home. He is also survived by his son Dan Minix of Raymond; daughter, Darla (Minix) Nall with Chris Rohr of Hutchinson, KS; brother, Jerry Minix and wife Pam of Lyons; sister-in-law, Kathy Minix of Tonkawa, OK; granddaughter, Amber Nall of Wellington, FL; great-grandson, Asher Moise of Wellington, FL; and numerous nieces and nephews. Don was preceded in death by his parents; twin brother, Ronald “Ron” Minix and brother, Marvin Minix. Funeral service will be at 2:00 P.M., Thursday, April 15, 2021 at Birzer Funeral Home, Lyons with Pastor Oscar Gomez officiating. Burial will follow at Raymond Hilltop Cemetery, Raymond. Visitation will be from 2:00 until 7:00 P.M.,Wednesday, April 14, 2021 at Birzer Funeral Home, Lyons with family present from 5:00 until 7:00 P.M. Memorials may be given to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital or Reno County Hospice in care of Birzer Funeral Home, Lyons.
