Dolores Devine Obituary

Dolores Mae Devine, 89, of Bushton, Kansas, passed away December 29, 2022, at Country Living of Lyons, Kansas. She was born January 28, 1933, in Larned, Kansas, the daughter of Walter E. and Agnes A. Buckman Miller. Dolores has resided in Rice County, Kansas, since 2013, formerly of Larned. She was a housewife. Dolores worked in the laundry department at both the Larned State Hospital and at Hammond Home in Larned. She was a member of the First United Methodist Church, Larned. Dolores enjoyed traveling and shopping, seeing what was new in stores. She could window shop for hours. She was an avid gardener and loved growing her roses and flowers. Truly, one with a green thumb! She liked playing bingo but one of her favorite things to do was spend time with her family. She flew to Texas on many occasions and went to visit Oklahoma too. She loved bringing gifts to the grandkids when she went to visit. On April 17, 1952, Dolores was united in marriage with Byron K. Devine in Great Bend, Kansas. He preceded her in death in May of 1990. She was also preceded in death by her parents; and son-in-law, Joe Cmelik. Dolores is survived by her son, Jon Devine and wife Jriz of Fort Worth, TX; three daughters, Tanya Behnke and husband Wayne of Bushton, KS, Kathy Cmelik of Yukon, OK, and Lori Kade and husband Tony of Granbury, TX; sister, Marilyn Boldenow and husband Bill of Hutchinson, KS; six grandchildren, Nate Cmelik of Yukon, OK, Tyler Cmelik and wife Kristi of Yukon, OK, Brad Kade and wife Morgan stationed in Clinton, UT, but from Granbury, TX, Ciera Kade of Granbury, TX, Jennifer Kesler and husband Dave of Zionsville, IN, Ben Behnke and wife Lori of Bushton, KS; four great-grandchildren, Olivia and Oaklynn Cmelik, and Aubrey and Mallory Behnke. A private family graveside service will be held in the Spring at Browns Grove Cemetery, Burdett, Kansas. Memorials may be given to Country Living of Lyons, Hospice and Homecare of Reno County, or flower tributes in care of Birzer Funeral Home, Lyons.
