Delores Joan "Jody" (Danford) Martin

Delores Joan “Jody” Martin, 79, of Geneseo, Kansas, passed away July 20, 2024, at Sterling Village, Sterling, Kansas. She was born August 10, 1944, the daughter of Earl and Delma Louise (Culbertson) Danford. Jody was a near lifelong Geneseo resident. She graduated from Nickerson High School. She served in the United States Army for over 16 years. Jody was a meat cutter for Dillion’s in Hutchinson and was a custodian for Hutchinson High School for many years. Jody was a homemaker. She enjoyed sitting outside in the mornings and evenings, drinking coffee, traveling, gardening, sewing, playing Gin Rummy, and most of all spending time with her grandkids. On June 9, 1992, Jody was united in marriage with Louis “Pete” Martin. He preceded her in death on June 2, 2000. She is also preceded in death by her parents; granddaughter, Shara Jones; and a sister, Linda Baregon. Jody is survived by her daughter, Cindra Lyhane of Geneseo, KS; ten grandchildren, Krystal, Trenton, Seth, Brandon, Addyson, Aniston, Haisley, Aniyah, Grayson, and Laikynn; and a brother, Richard Danford of Hutchinson, KS. Funeral services will be held at a later date. Memorials may be given to donor’s choice in care of Birzer Funeral Home, Lyons.
