David Linn “Dave” Saunders, 75, of Chase, Kansas, passed away October 26, 2023, at the Sterling Village, Sterling, Kansas. He was born May 4, 1948, in Lyons, Kansas, the son of Orvel and Madge (Hubbard) Saunders. Dave has resided in Chase for the past thirty-nine years, formerly of Lyons. He graduated from Lyons High School with the class of 1966. Dave was a floor refinisher for many years. He was a member of Ducks Unlimited. Dave was an elder and deacon at the First Christian Church, Lyons, church camp counselor, hunter safety instructor and Rice County Fire Department volunteer. He enjoyed watching football, hunting, and shooting guns. On February 16, 1985, Dave was united in marriage with Valerie Keesling. She survives of the home. He is also survived by his brother-in-law, Dick Keesling (Karen) of Belton, MO; three nieces, Kim Gonzales (Dan) of El Dorado, KS, Staci Lowe (Randy) of Stillwell, KS, and Katie Latta of Olathe, KS; two nephews, Kent Saunders (Carrie) of St. Louis, MO, and Brian Inwood (Nancy) of Sterling, KS; eight great-nieces, Kelly Gonzales-Archer (Daniel), Briana Lowe, Brynn Lowe, Avery Saunders, Stella Saunders, Maci Latta, Katie Inwood, and Paige Inwood; four great-nephews, Gregory Gonzales, Brooks Lowe, Colton Latta, and Cameron Inwood; and great-great-niece, Aspen Gonzales-Archer. Dave is preceded in death by his parents; and brother, Doug Saunders. Funeral service will be at 10:00 A.M., Saturday, November 4, 2023, at the First United Methodist Church, Lyons, with Pastor Chris Lehew and Pastor Tom Reazin officiating. Burial will follow at the Lyons Municipal Cemetery. Visitation will be from 5:00 until 7:00 P.M., Friday, November 3, 2023, at Birzer Funeral Home, Lyons, with family present. Memorials may be given to the North Pole Fire and Rescue in care of Birzer Funeral Home, Lyons.
