David Lynn Ray

David Lynn Ray, 77, of Chase, Kansas, passed away December 17, 2024, at his home. He was born December 31, 1946, in El Dorado, Kansas, the son of Howard Milton and Esther M. (Richardson) Ray. David was a near lifelong Chase resident. He attended Chase High School with the class of 1964. David served in the United States Army from 1967 until 1969 during the Vietnam War, receiving a bronze star. He was a career long truck driver. David was a member of the First Baptist Church, Chase, and the VFW. He enjoyed fishing, shooting guns, dirt track racing, carpentry, traveling, and riding motorcycles. David loved Elvis Presley and was a diehard Cowboys fan. In 1985, David married Linda Raynette Woodard. They later divorced. She preceded him in death on November 17, 2011. David is also preceded in death by his parents; daughter, Dianna Kay Wilson; brother, Jim Ray (Kathy); and nephew, David Ray. David is survived by his eight children, Katie White (Patrick) of WA, Joseph Ray (Brooklyn) of Goodman, MO, Ricky Ray of Great Bend, KS, Terese Lynne Wilson of Great Bend, KS, Darlene Suann Case of Great Bend, KS, Ross Tuey of Great Bend, KS, Tammy Jean Piland (Scott) of Ellinwood, KS, and Christopher Kelso (Shannon) of Great Bend, KS; brother, John Ray of Lyons, KS; two sisters, Melinda Moore (Alan) of Lyons, KS, and Genny Gillespie of Chase, KS; and numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Funeral service will be at 10:30 A.M., Monday, December 23, 2024, at Birzer Funeral Home, Lyons, with Melinda Moore officiating. Visitation will be from 2:00 until 4:00 P.M., Sunday, December 22, 2024, at Birzer Funeral Home, Lyons, with family present. Memorials may be made out to Ricky Ray in care of Birzer Funeral Home, Lyons.
