Curtis Elliott Gantz, 38, of Emporia, Kansas, passed away September 29, 2019 at his home. He was born April 24, 1981 in Emporia, the son of Dwight Gantz and Theresa “Terry” Laudick. Curtis has resided in Emporia for the past eleven years, formerly of Hutchinson. He graduated from Sterling High School, Sterling, Kansas with the class of 1999, and attended Kansas State University. Curtis was owner and operator of Night and Day Landscaping of Emporia. Curtis enjoyed fishing, and hunting pheasant and quail. He was a member of First United Methodist Church, Sterling and St. Paul Catholic Church, Lyons. He is survived by his father, Dwight Gantz and companion Becky Schechter of Lyons; mother, Theresa “Terry” Lyons of Moore, OK, four children, Alexander, Sophia, Brooklynn, and Jordyn; paternal grandmother, Allene Marie Gantz of Overland Park, KS; paternal step-grandmother, Phyllis Gantz of Omaha, NE; two brothers, Brandon Gantz and wife Jennifer of Wichita, KS, and Bryan Gantz and wife Whitney of Salina, KS. He was preceded in death by his paternal grandfather, Donald Lee Gantz; maternal grandparents, Richard David “Jack” and Loverne Cecelia “Dubs” Laudick. Funeral service will be at 3:00 P.M., Thursday, October 3, 2019 at First United Methodist Church, Sterling, with Pastor Ron DeVore and Pastor Amy Foster officiating. Memorials may be given in honor of Curtis’s Children Memorial Fund in care of Birzer Funeral Home, Lyons.
