Constance “Maxine” Boroughs, 90, of Lyons, Kansas, passed away January 6, 2021 at Country Living of Lyons. She was born December 11, 1930 in Wichita, Kansas, the daughter of Harold and Gladys Fern Shivers Ericksten. Maxine has resided in Lyons since 1950, formerly of Great Bend, Kansas. She graduated from Great Bend High School. Maxine was a homemaker and worked as the childcare attendant at the Lyons Recreation Center for several years. She was a member of the First United Methodist Church, Lyons, Eastern Star Queen Esther Chapter 32, Busy Bees Quilting Club at Ebenezer United Methodist Church, and served on the Rice County Election Board. Maxine was an accomplished quilter, enjoyed reading, and loved taking care of her children and grandchildren. On April 30, 1950, Maxine was united in marriage with Zenas Evans, “Z.E.,” Boroughs in Great Bend, KS. He preceded her in death on February 13, 2003. She is also preceded in death by her parents; daughter-in-law, Janet Boroughs; and brother, William D. Lydle. Maxine is survived by her five sons, David Evans Boroughs of Lyons, H.R. Boroughs and wife Carol of Lyons, Michael Gordon Boroughs of Lyons, Paul Mark Boroughs and wife Rowena; and Nathan Lee Boroughs of Dillon, CO; sister-in-law, Wanda Wilson of Wichita, KS; ten grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren. A graveside service will be held at 10:00 A.M., Monday, January 11, 2021 at Lyons Municipal Cemetery, Lyons. Family and friends may view the service on Birzer Funeral Home's Facebook page.
