Clyda Jayne (Pile) Frederick

Clyda Jayne Frederick, 71, of Clay Center, Kansas, passed away on September 5, 2022, at her home surrounded by family. She was born October 15, 1950, in Lyons, Kansas, the daughter of Walter Clyde and Bertha Lee Warner Pile. Clyda has resided in Clay Center for the past year and a half, formerly of Sterling. She graduated from Lyons High School with the class of 1968. Clyda received a bachelor’s degree in education from Sterling College in 1972 and received her master’s degree in education at Friends University in 2006. She was a teacher at Sterling USD 376, Hutchinson High School, Little River High School and Raymond Jr. High School. Clyda was a member off Beta Sigma Sorority, Sterling Library Board, and past member of PEO Chapter C of Lyons. On August 3, 1969, Clyda was united in marriage with Russell “Mac” Frederick in Lyons. He survives of the home. She is also survived by her two sons, David Frederick and wife Shellee of Clay Center, KS, and Mark Frederick and wife Amy of Louisburg, KS; two sisters, Connie Sewell and husband Larry of Sterling, and Phyllis Mendenhall of Oxford, OH; and seven grandchildren, Brandon, Allie, Lauren, Blake, Brady, Kate and Sam. Clyda is preceded in death by her parents. Celebration of life will be from 3:00 until 5:00 P.M., Friday, September 23, 2022, at Studio 96 in Sterling. Private family services and burial will be at Sterling Community Cemetery. Memorials may be given to Studio 96, Rice County Friends of Animals, or Sterling Public Library in care of Birzer Funeral Home, Sterling.
