Clara Louise Wingfield, 96, of Denver, Colorado, passed away November 19, 2023, at the Medical Center of Aurora, Denver. She was born November 26, 1926, in Daytona Beach, Florida, the daughter of George Arthur and Ethel Louise (Ward) Brownlee. Clara has resided in Denver for the past six years, formerly of Los Angeles, California from 1974 to 1992, and Lyons and Hutchinson, Kansas. She graduated from Lyons High School with the class of 1944 and later received a secretarial certificate from Salt City Business College in Hutchinson. Clara worked as a print operator for Pacific Coast College in Los Angeles, California. She was a member of the United Methodist Church. Clara was a volunteer for Meals on Wheels and the American Red Cross. She won numerous blue ribbons at the Kansas State Fair for her braided rugs. Clara was an avid line dancer. She is survived by her two children, George Wingfield and wife Judy of Ft. Collins, CO, and Louise Lucero of Aurora, CO; six grandchildren, Jennifer, Michelle, Mandy, Jason, Janelle, and Jeremy; eight great-grandchildren; two nephews, Curtis, and Sam; and two nieces, Pat, and Marie. Clara is preceded in death by her parents; and sister, Ethel “Georgene” Scott. Graveside service will be held at 11:00 A.M., Friday, December 1, 2023, at the Lyons Municipal Cemetery, Lyons, Kansas, with Sam Cline officiating. Memorials may be given to Friendship Meals in care of Birzer Funeral Home, Lyons.
