Christopher Alan "Chris" Morrison

Christopher “Chris” Alan Morrison, 60, of Lyons, Kansas, passed away March 21, 2023, at Hospital District #1 of Rice County, Lyons. He was born January 23, 1963, in Sterling, Kansas, the son of Bill Morrison and Sharon Palmgren, née Smith. Chris has resided in Lyons since 2016, formerly of Tulsa, Oklahoma. He graduated from Burrton High School, Burrton, Kansas, with the class of 1981. He was an owner and operator of M&D Construction and Morrison Construction both of Lyons, as well as co-manager and maintenance man for the Wagon Wheel Inn of Lyons. Chris enjoyed fishing, camping, cooking, helping others, and most of all spending time with his grandbabies. He was an avid Chiefs fan. On August 16, 1997, Chris was united in marriage with Christy Kruse in Lyons, Kansas. Chris is survived by his wife, Christy Morrison of Lyons, KS; four children: Josh Morrison and wife Kelly of Sterling, KS; Jake Morrison and wife Rachel of Sterling, KS; Ariah Allensworth and husband Trey of Perkins, OK; and Brianna Frerich and husband Hunter of Phoenix, AZ; three brothers: Steve Morrison and wife Tonya of Whitewater, TX; Dan Brown and wife Haley of Nesbit, MS; and Michael Gregg of Reno, NV; three sisters: Cynthia Bilson and husband Jeremy of Lyons, KS; Jennifer Demoret and husband Brad of Lynchburg, VA; and Janice Gregg of Reno, NV; and nine grandchildren: Selene, 8; Lilith, 7; Makayla, 7; Merrick, 6; Leon, 6; Makai, 5; Oliver, 4; Isabel, 3; and William, 9 months. Chris was preceded in death by his mother, Sharon Palmgren and brother, John Christopher Palmgren. A Celebration of Life will be held Saturday, April 29, 2023, at 1:30 PM at Ebenezer United Methodist Church, Lyons, with Pastor Rob Bolton officiating. Attendees are requested to wear Kansas City Chiefs gear, or red/yellow (Chris’ favorite color) in honor of Chris. Memorials may be given to First United Methodist Church, Lyons or Ebenezer United Methodist Church, Lyons in care of Birzer Funeral Home, Lyons.
