Catherine Irene (Sporn) Young

Catherine Irene (Sporn) Young, 76, of Little River, KS passed away Saturday Oct 24th, 2020 at Via Christi St Francis Hospital Wichita, KS. Cathy was born December 16, 1943 in Stafford, KS. She was a graduate of Little River High in 1962 and then attended Adela Hale Business School in Hutchinson, KS then worked at the Lyons State Bank in Lyons KS until starting her family. She was united in marriage June 18, 1966 to Leland M Young in the Congregational Church in Little River, of which she was a lifetime member. Cathy was known by her kind and generous heart and her divine cooking abilities. We were all so blessed by her gift of unconditional love which she instilled into her children and grandchildren. Family was everything to her and she was always hosting get togethers and being a part of all the special occasions. She has left a permanent stamp on all of her family’s hearts and she will forever be missed. Surviving family members include her husband, Leland Young of Little River, KS; daughters, Vicki & Brian Ward of Haysville, KS, Sherri and Benjamin Williams of Bennett, CO, and Tammi Adel of Derby, KS; eight Grandchildren, Cierra and Alex Pauler of Wichita, KS, Nathan Young and Austin Ward of Haysville, KS, Joseph Williams and Benjamin Williams II of Bennett, CO, Dana Young of Wichita, KS, Justin Young of Wichita, KS, and Rayn Akram of Tulsa, OK; and 4 great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, Leo and Thelma (Christiansen) Sporn; brothers, George and Richard Sporn; and sister, Patricia Link; and grandson, Jacob Ward. Funeral will be at 2:00 P.M., Saturday, May 22, 2021 at the Congregational Church in Little River, KS with Pastor Ted Weis officiating. Burial will be at Bean Memorial Cemetery, Little River. There will be a luncheon at 12:30PM at the Congregational Church, Little River, everyone is welcome.
