Caroline "Carol" (Barrientos) Palacioz

Caroline “Carol” Palacioz, 88, of Lyons, Kansas, passed away November 1, 2022, at Grace Cottage, Wichita, Kansas. She was born May 3, 1934, in Lyons, the daughter of John P. and Isidra Ramierez Barrientos. Carol was a lifelong Lyons resident. She graduated from Lyons High School with the class of 1957 and received her bachelor’s degree in social work from Sterling College in 1977. Carol was a housewife and ESL instructor and aide for Lyons School District USD #405 for many years. She was a member of the First United Methodist Church, Lyons and the Lyons VFW. Carol enjoyed cooking, reading, sewing, and educating people. She loved helping others, being around her grandchildren, and spending time with her family. In September of 1951, Carol was united in marriage with Felix Martinez Palacioz in McPherson. He preceded her in death on March 4, 2015. She is also preceded in death by her parents; son, Steven Palacioz; siblings, Frances Barrientos, Isabela Cadena, infant Elias Barrientos, Joe Barrientos, Bea Rau, infant Jaime Barrientos, and Betty Harkrader; and great-grandson, Chance Richards. Carol is survived by her daughter, Annalisa Richards and husband Ray of Lyons, KS; brother, Louis Barrientos of Broomfield, CO; sister, Odelia Avila of Wichita, KS; four grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews. Visitation will Friday, November 11, 2022, from 2:00 until 7:00 P.M. at Birzer Funeral Home, Lyons, with family present from 5:00 until 7:00 P.M. Funeral service will be at 2:00 P.M., Saturday, November 26, 2022, at the First United Methodist Church, Lyons, with Pastor Chris Lehew officiating. Burial will be at 11:00 A.M., Saturday, November 26, 2022, the Lyons Municipal Cemetery, Lyons. Memorials may be given to the First United Methodist Church, Lyons, in care of Birzer Funeral Home, Lyons.
