Carolee Marcella Porter, 80, of Sterling, Kansas, passed away June 25, 2024, at Hospital District #1 of Rice County, Lyons, Kansas. She was born September 9, 1943, in Carneiro, Kansas, the daughter of George Washington and Edna (Bayse) Sneath. Carolee has resided in Sterling since 2006, formerly of Lyons. She graduated from Geneseo High School, Geneseo, Kansas. Carolee was self-employed working in agriculture and at the Lyons Salt Plant. She was a member of the Geneseo American Legion Auxiliary. Carolee enjoyed playing softball, volleyball and bowling, and loved gardening, fishing and hunting. She took pride in working hard. Carolee was married to James R. Porter. They later divorced. She is survived by her son, Jim Porter and wife Judy of Bushton, KS; daughter, Cathy LaTourell and husband Dan of Sterling, KS; four brothers, Eddie Sneath and wife Sherry, Earl Sneath and wife Alice, Gerold Sneath and wife Kathy, and Donnie Sneath and wife Darla; three sisters, Laura Halford, Judy Sneath, and Cheryl Swisher and husband Marvin; eight grandchildren, Tyler, Andy, Jill, Brooke, Michelle, Carlie, Luke, and Cylie; eight great-grandchildren, Lydia, Karah, Dex, Colton, Dakota, Kadence, Wren, and Carson; and numerous in-laws, and nieces and nephews. Carolee is preceded in death by her parents; and four brothers, Virgil Sneath, Harold Sneath, Gary Sneath, and Clyde Sneath. Funeral service will be at 10:00 A.M., Saturday, July 20, 2024, at Birzer Funeral Home, Lyons. Private family burial will be at Geneseo Cemetery. Visitation will be from 5:00 until 7:00 P.M., Friday, July 19, 2024 at Birzer Funeral Home, Lyons, with family present. Memorials may be given to Geneseo American Legion Auxiliary in care of Birzer Funeral Home, Lyons.
