Carole Jean (Britain) Flory

Carole Jean Flory 1940 ~ 2017. Beloved wife, mother and grandmother passed away peacefully this past Friday, Oct. 13. Carole was born June 1, 1940 in Russell, Kansas to Cecil and Vera Britain. Carole grew up in Lyons, Kansas where she met her late husband, David Allen Flory at Lyons High School. After graduating from Halstead Hospital School of Nursing August 31, 1961, she married David, her high school sweetheart, in Wichita, Kansas on June 3, 1961. Much of Carole’s life was dedicated to caring for others and, after raising her kids, she spent her professional life as a nurse. She was an avid reader of romance and mystery novels. She loved watching movies and listening to music. Carole had a sweet tooth for Milky Ways, which her grandchildren especially appreciated. She is survived by her three children, Brenda Flory Girod (her spouse Olivier), Brian Flory and Mark Flory (his spouse Michele) and her 6 grandchildren – Ashley, Arthur, Emeric and Christine Girod; Jason and Ayden Flory. She is also survived by her sister, Barbara. She was preceded in death by her brothers Jim and Norman (Pat). Funeral services will be held Monday, Oct. 16 in Lyons, Kansas with a viewing at 1:00 p.m. and services at 2:00 p.m. at the Birzer Funeral Home, 214 West Avenue South, Lyons, KS 67554.
