Candace Renee Hernandez

Candace Renee Hernandez, 31, of Lyons, Kansas, passed away April 19, 2023, at her home. She was born June 17, 1991, in Wichita, Kansas, the daughter of Antonio and Terri L. Cook Hernandez. Candace was a lifetime Lyons resident. She graduated from Lyons High School with the class of 2010 and attended Hutchinson Community College. Candace was a waitress at El Portillo and worked prior at Shopko as a retail clerk both in Lyons. She enjoyed shopping at the grocery store, cooking and reading. Candace is survived by her daughter Autumn Hernandez of the home; parents, Antonio and Terri Hernandez of Lyons, KS; two sisters, Kimberly Kuykendall and husband Justin of Lorena, TX, and Veronica Nail and fiancé Steve Lang of Hutchinson, KS; and numerous aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, and cousins. She is preceded in death by her paternal grandparents, Antonio Hernandez and Monica Romero; and maternal grandparents, Bill Cook and Mary Ann Scheuerman. Funeral service will be at 10:00 A.M. Tuesday, April 25, 2023, at Birzer Funeral Home, Lyons, with Pastor Larry Schumacher officiating. A private family burial will take place at Lyons Municipal Cemetery at a later date. Visitation will be from 2:00 until 7:00 P.M., Monday, April 24, 2023, at Birzer Funeral Home, Lyons, with family present from 5:00 until 7:00 P.M. Memorials may be given to Autumn Hernandez Scholarship Fund in care of Birzer Funeral Home, Lyons.
