Bryan Evans Riggs, 55, of Sterling, Kansas, passed away on October 25, 2024, at his home.
Bryan was born on November 26, 1968, in Lyons, Kansas, to Mary Riggs (Hanna) and Ray Riggs. He graduated from Sterling High School in 1987. He went on to work in the oil field and later with the family business of R&R Roofing.
On July 10, 1991, he married Gigi Savage of Sterling and became the father of Nichole Proffitt (Riggs) and Adam Riggs.
Bryan was a member of The Sons of the American Legion. He enjoyed being outdoors and all it had to offer. In his younger years, he would spend his free time playing on recreational ball leagues, fishing, hunting, camping, boating, and coaching his kids’ teams. As he got older, he ventured more into golf and grilling, like most dads do. Cooking and food were his love language. During the summer you could find Bryan sitting poolside, shirtless, with a drink in hand, enjoying the heat. He loved the heat so much that he started spending the winters in Arizona like his parents once did. He had a distinct and contagious laugh that all the Riggs men had.
Bryan was preceded in death by his parents. He is survived by his wife, Gigi; daughter, Nichole and Wiley Proffitt of Manhattan, KS; son, Adam Riggs of Boise, ID; two brothers, Danny and Lori Riggs of Great Bend, KS, and Robert Riggs of Lyons, KS; and numerous nieces and nephews.
A celebration of life will be held at 10:00 A.M., Friday, November 1, 2024, at Birzer Funeral Home, Sterling, with Pastor Amy Foster officiating. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given to Friends of Animals of Rice County in care of Birzer Funeral Home, Sterling.
