Brian James McGoldrick, 58, of Goddard, Kansas, passed away February 7, 2024, in Hutchinson, Kansas. He was born January 24, 1966, in Brooklyn, New York, the son of John and Kathleen “Kathy” (McCarthy) McGoldrick. Brian was a construction worker, carpenter, and was a screen-printing supervisor. He enjoyed woodworking, reading and playing scrabble and baseball. Brian loved animals and making wooden toys for his grandchildren. He enjoyed the Garden Club, and grew all kinds of vegetables, particularly enjoyed growing tomatoes. Brian loved bugs, when he was younger he was invited to go on Romper Room to share his bug collection. Bugs fascinated Brian and this continued into adulthood. On November 3, 2007, Brian was united in marriage with Maria Alexander in Lansing, Kansas. He is survived by his wife, Maria McGoldrick of Great Bend, KS; father, John McGoldrick (Julie) of Bullard, TX; son, Chris Cates of Topeka, KS; daughter, Miranda Wood of Sioux Falls, SD; three brothers, John McGoldrick (Joann Kemper), Kevin McGoldrick (Sharon), and Peter McGoldrick (Mary Catherine); six grandchildren, Kyri, Mercedes, Monte, Kaelyn, Castiel, and Jameson; and numerous nieces and nephews. Brian is preceded in death by his mother, Kathleen “Kathy” McGoldrick; and daughter, Brittney Gallaway. A private family service will be held. The family suggest memorials be given to Golden Belt Humane Society, Great Bend, Kansas, in care of Birzer Funeral Home, Lyons.
