Brent Ernest Burfield, 67, of Miami, Florida, passed away on September 25, 2020 to be with the Lord. He was born on February 11, 1953, in Great Bend, Kansas, the son of Marvel and Vera (Irvin) Burfield. He spent his formative years in Otis, Kansas, and later moved to Amarillo, Texas. After that he moved to Lakewood, Colorado and graduated from Lakewood Senior High School with the class of 1971. He attended both Dallas Bible College and Talbot Theological Seminary, graduating with a Master of Divinity and Master’s in Church History. At Dallas Bible College, in 1974, Brent met and married his wife of forty-six years, Margaret (Maggie) Burfield. Brent worked with the Federal Government for about 42 years and received the Eagle Award. He was an avid reader of many different kinds of books including theology, history, geography, and fantasy/science fiction. He was rarely if ever without a book and would gladly discuss it with anyone who would listen. While working at the airport Brent was able to share the gospel with people throughout the world and his co-workers. Brent was a member of Northwest Baptist Church and loved to discuss theological issues and his faith in JESUS CHRIST. Preceding Brent in death are his parents; and an older brother, Marvin. Brent is survived by his wife, Margaret of the home, son, James Collins Burfield (Lucy) of San Diego, CA; daughter, Heather Marie Burfield also of the home; brother, Rev. Bruce (Keli) Burfield of Lindsborg, KS; sister, Andrea (Delbert) Nelson of Great Bend, KS; aunt, Eileen Bayer of Pawnee Rock, KS; two granddaughters, that he was immensely proud of, Venus and Jamie; and nephews, nieces, cousins and a host of friends. Funeral services will be at 2:00 P.M., Friday, October 23, 2020 at Ebenezer United Methodist Church, Lyons with Rev. Bruce Burfield and Pastor Rob Bolton officiating. Burial will be in the Ebenezer United Methodist Church Cemetery. Visitation will be from 1:00 P.M. until service time at the church. Memorials may be given to Grandchildren's Educational Fund in care of Birzer Funeral Home, Lyons.
