Bob F. “Robert” Alexander, 93, of Wichita, Kansas, passed away July 9, 2023, at Wesley Medical Center, Wichita. He was born June 21, 1930, in Ellsworth, Kansas, the son of Dale E. and Garnett (White) Alexander. Bob has resided in Wichita since September 2019, formerly of Lyons, Kansas. In 1948, he graduated from Geneseo High School, and was proud to be the oldest graduate (75 years) at the alumni banquet this year. Bob attended Ft. Hays State University and Kansas State University. He was part owner and operator of Alexander Truck Line of Lyons, drove truck for Graves Truck Line and Knight Feedlot for 20 years. Bob received the million mile odometer award. He was also a salesman at NAPA in Lyons and sold insurance for American Investors Insurance. Bob was a handyman, enjoyed woodworking and gardening, was an avid sports fan, and a strong spiritual leader. He was a member of the First Christian Church, Lyons; First Baptist Church, Lyons, where he served as Deacon, Baptist Youth Fellowship Teacher, Sunday School Teacher, and Sunday School Superintendent; and attended The Well Worship Center, Derby. On April 8, 1950, Bob was united in marriage with Shirley J. Wolf in Lyons for 67 years. She preceded him in death on August 7, 2017. He is also preceded in death by his parents; daughter-in-law, Belinda Alexander; brother, Dick Alexander; and sister, Diane McElroy. Bob is survived by his four children, Cynthia Gamcsik of Abilene, KS, Cecelia Ragan and husband Stephen of Valley Falls, KS, Cathy Hay of Wichita, KS, and Bob Alexander of Topeka, KS; special adopted daughter, Dianna “Jake” Lange of Lyons, KS; brother, Don Alexander of Palm Springs, CA; sister-in-law, Janet Alexander of Tempe, AZ; twelve grandchildren; and twenty-one great-grandchildren. Funeral service will be at 10:30 A.M., Saturday, July 15, 2023, at Birzer Funeral Home, Lyons, with Pastor Thom Scott officiating. Burial will follow at the Geneseo Cemetery, Geneseo. Visitation will be from 3:00 until 7:00 P.M., Friday, July 14, 2023, at Birzer Funeral Home, Lyons, with family present from 5:00 until 7:00 P.M. Memorials may be given to the Oligod Nation (cancer research for rare oligodendroglioma brain tumors) or the Geneseo High School Alumni Association in care of Birzer Funeral Home, Lyons.
