Bill Burdette Baxter Obituary

Bill B. Baxter, 85, of Lyons, Kansas, passed away September 9, 2024, at Sandstone Heights Nursing Home, Little River, Kansas. He was born October 14, 1938, in Little River, the son of Burdette and Emily (Foster) Baxter. Bill graduated from Little River High School, with the class of 1956. He worked for Northern Gas Products as a field operator. On June 30, 1959, Bill married Ada Marie Briscoe. They had two sons, Jamie and William Baxter and two stepsons, John and Brian Griffitt. Bill is survived by his wife, Ada Baxter; son, William Baxter; stepson, Brian Griffitt; brother, Chuck Baxter (Norma); sister, Bea Baxter Fordham and husband Ben; twelve grandchildren, Deanna, Jayson, Jessie, Misty, Angela, Logan, Drayton, Carmen, Jamie, Payton, Leslie, and Bryant; and thirty-one great-grandchildren. Bill is preceded in death by his parents; son, Jamie Baxter; stepson, John Griffitt; and brother, Joe Baxter. Graveside service will be at 3:00 P.M., Saturday, September 28, 2024, at Bean Memorial Cemetery, Little River. Memorials may be given to the Rice County Council on Aging in care of Birzer Funeral Home, Lyons.
