Betty Gillespie Obituary

Betty Louise Gillespie, 82, of Chase, Kansas, passed away on November 4, 2021 at Good Samaritan Society of Lyons. She was born August 1, 1939, in Warsaw, Missouri, the daughter of Robert Ambrose and Margaret Messacasa Gillespie. Betty was a lifelong Chase resident. She graduated from Chase High School with the class of 1958. Betty attended Barton County Community College and received her LPN degree from McPherson School of Nursing in 1979. She was an LPN at Hospital District #1 of Rice County for ten plus years. Betty was a member of Chase Baptist Church and Eastern Star. She enjoyed spending time with her family. Betty is survived by her two sons, Gilbert Aguilera and Gerald Aguilera and wife Dorothy both of Chase; brother, Curtis Gillespie and wife Hughlene of Chase; sister, Ottavia Ludwick of Sterling, KS; eight grandchildren, Todd Aguilera and wife Aimee of Alden, KS, Gilbert Aguilera III and wife Ashley of Polk, OH, Natalie Zink of Lyons, KS, Brooke Aguilera of Lyons, Glenn Aguilera and wife Krista of Chase, Audree Aguilera of Valley Falls, KS, Andrea Aguilera of Hoisington, KS, and Aaron Aguilera of Chase; ten great-grandchildren, Jace Aguilera, Saylor Aguilera, Landon Aguilera, Gracyn Zink, BryAnn Zink, Alyssa Martinez, Colton Aguilera, Kaiden Strickland, Jasper Aguilera, and Charity Aguilera. Betty is preceded in death by her parents, five brothers, Dell Gillespie, Robert “Buck” Gillespie, Herman “Slick” Gillespie, John Gillespie, and Bill Gillespie; four sisters, Minnie “Midget” Wheeler, Edith Royster, Goldie “Nip” Gates, and Mary Trehan; and grandson, Brian Aguilera. Funeral service will be at 10:30 A.M., Wednesday, November 10, 2021, at First Baptist Church, Chase with Pastor Rick Standlee officiating. Burial will follow at Chase Springdale Cemetery, Chase. Visitation will be from 2:00 until 7:00 P.M., Tuesday, November 9, 2021, at Birzer Funeral Home, Lyons with family present from 5:00 until 7:00 P.M. In Lieu of flowers, memorials may be given to First Baptist Church, Chase in care of Birzer Funeral Home, Lyons.
