Betty Bell Gillespie, 85, of Chase, passed away February 22, 2021 at Hospital District #1 of Rice County, Lyons. She was born May 18, 1935, in Easton, Missouri, the daughter of John William and Helen Weakley Bigham. Betty has resided in Chase since 2014, formerly of Hayward, California. She worked as a receptionist for PG&E in California and was also a homemaker. Betty loved golfing, enjoyed raising a garden and tending to her beautiful flowers, but most of all loved her pets. She was an avid Oakland Raiders fan. In September of 1955, Betty was united in marriage with David L. Gillespie. They later divorced in 1976. She is survived by her three children, Janet Long and husband Steve of CA, Steven Gillespie and wife Velinda of Chase, KS, and Julie McCaffrey of Turlock, CA; two sisters, Joyce Verlinde and husband Marvin of Seattle, WA, and Judy Thompson and husband Jim of Las Vegas, NV; and seven grandchildren. Betty was preceded in death by her parents, and sister, Jane Cannon. Graveside funeral services will be held at 1:00 P.M., Friday, March 5, 2021 at Chase Springdale Cemetery, Chase.
