Betty Lou (Mehl) Beagley

Betty Lou Beagley, 77, of Saxman, Kansas, passed away December 17, 2022, at her home. She was born July 24, 1945, in Hiawatha, Kansas, the daughter of Gilbert E. and Ruth A. Reed Mehl. Betty has resided in Saxman since 1973, formerly of Sterling, Kansas. She graduated from Lorraine High School, Lorraine, Kansas, with the class of 1964. Betty worked at the Ellsworth Hospital, Ellsworth and the Sterling Hospital, Sterling as a Certified Nurse Aide, and later in life as a private housekeeper. On July 29, 1966, Betty was united in marriage with Ermon George Beagley in Lorraine, Kansas. He preceded her in death on January 21, 2010. She is also preceded in death by her parents; brother, Gene Mehl; sister, Mary Mehl; father and mother-in-law, William and Florence Beagley; and stepfather-in-law, Leonard Harbacek. Betty is survived by her son, Kevin Beagley-Bannon and husband Fred of Salina, KS; daughter, Dorene Beagley of Sterling, KS; two brothers, Don Mehl of Hobbs, NM, and Max Mehl of OK; sister, Jean Elwess of Kansas City, MO; sister-in-law, Joan Alba of Hobbs, NM; granddaughter, Yvonne Marie Beagley of Saxman, KS; extended family; and numerous nieces, nephews and friends. Funeral service will be at 1:00 P.M., Wednesday, December 21, 2022, at St. Peter Lutheran Church, Holyrood, Kansas, with Pastor Daniel Harders officiating. Burial will follow at the St. Peter Lutheran Church Cemetery, Holyrood. Visitation will be from 12:00 P.M., until service time at the church with family present. The family suggests memorials be given to Birzer Funeral Home to help offset funeral expenses or the American Cancer Society in care of Birzer Funeral Home, Lyons.
