Bernard Edward “Bernie” Corbin, 74, of Lyons, Kansas, passed away June 1, 2025, at his home. He was born August 17, 1950, in Clarksburg, West Virginia, the son of Claude Layton and Rita Manger. Bernie has resided in Lyons since 1973, formerly of Clarksburg, West Virginia. He worked at Lyons Salt Mine from 1991 until 2016 in various positions, also serving as captain of the mine rescue team. Bernie also spent several years in the oil and gas industry. He served in the United States Marine Corps. Bernie was a member of the Sterling Bowling League. He enjoyed watching wrestling and football, loved to read, and listen to old country music. Bernie also enjoyed dancing, jeopardy, playing the Wii, traveling, and spending time with Marvin Lyon. On December 28, 1975, Bernie was united in marriage with Barbara Jo McAllaster in Lyons. She preceded him in death on January 23, 2022. Bernie is also preceded in death by his parents; adopted father, William Corbin; and his dog, Drake. Bernie is survived by his six children, Jimmy Corbin of WV, Paula Moore of WV, Bernie Corbin Jr. (Shannon) of OK, Rita Corbin (Trevis Epp) of Lyons, KS, Benjamin Corbin of Lyons, KS, and Brian Corbin of Hutchinson, KS; five siblings, Claudia Richards of Baltimore, MD, Charlotte Schurman (Earl) of Baltimore, MD, Irene Barnett (Tom) of Oxford, NC, William Corbin of Clarksburg, WV, and Richard Crothers (Kim) of Hutchinson, KS; and numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews. Graveside service will be held at 2:00 P.M., Saturday, June 7, 2025, at the Lyons Municipal Cemetery, with Wendi Lea officiating.
