Anita M. Whitson

Anita M. Whitson, 67, of Garden City, Kansas, passed away February 10, 2023 at the Hillsboro Community Hospital, Hillsboro, Kansas. She was born February 21, 1955, in Garden City, the daughter of Galen Otis and Gwendolyn (Shull) Whitson. Anita has resided in Garden City for the past 27 years, formerly of Scott City, Kansas. She graduated from Scott City High School with the class of 1973. Anita was a department clerk and worked as a home health aide. She attended the Trinity Lutheran Church, Garden City. Anita was united with Dale Koster for 27 years. He preceded her in death on December 1, 2020. She is also preceded in death by her parents; and sister, Barbara Barnett. Anita is survived by her stepson, Matt Koster and wife Sabrina and their children Joshua Davis, Kale Koster, Karsyn Koster, and Kambry Koster all of Holcomb, KS; stepdaughter, Karie Roth and husband Todd of Holcomb, KS and their children, Megan Roth of Holcomb, KS, and MacKenzie Roth of Kansas City, MO; brother, Robert Whitson of Clay Center, NE; two sisters, Shirley Steffens and husband Richard of Leawood, KS, and Janet Soeken and husband Mark of McPherson, KS; two nephews, Jarrod Steffens of Independence, MO, and Tyler Soeken of McPherson, KS; two nieces, Andrea Myers of Leawood, KS, and Myca Soeken of McPherson, KS; and eight great-nieces and nephews. Birzer Funeral Home, Lyons is in charge of arrangements.
