Andrew Kirk Morrison Obituary

Andrew K “Andy/AMO” Morrison passed away February 15, 2024. He was born July 2, 1979 in Concordia, Kansas to Robert and Susan Freeborn Morrison. He attended Sterling High School where he participated in sports and received recognition in football, basketball and track. He played saxophone in band and really enjoyed vocal music, where he was in a special barbershop quartet and Sterling Singers. He was a homecoming candidate and Student Council President. He graduated in 1997. He received athletic scholarships to Hutchinson Community College, Cloud County Community College, Sterling College and Fort Hays State University. Andy was a champion for the underdog. He loved working with kids when he was a lifeguard at Sterling Municipal Pool. He loved all sports and had a dedication to try to be at the top of any sport he participated in. He had excellent hand-eye coordination and in baseball could hit home runs right or left-handed. He could contact a golf ball on a single dimple of aim. His knowledge of sports statistics was unmatched. Andy was an extremely loyal son, brother and friend and was very much loved and will be dearly missed by his family and friends. He is survived by his mother, Susan Sillin, of Sterling, Kansas. Father, Robert Morrison, of San Marcos, Texas. Brother, Bob Morrison, Hico Texas. Three sisters, Katie Sillin, Towanda, Kansas – Jenny Katz, San Marcos, Texas and Brooke Dulock, Fort Worth, Texas. He is survived by three nephews, Cash Warren Morrison, Owen Andrew Morrison and Levi Thomas Dulock. Seven nieces, Lola Mae Morrison, Lucie Mo Sillin, Aviva Rose and Talia Camille Katz, Kennedy Rae and Hollis Kate Dulock and Merriden Re Hendrickson. He is also survived by grandmothers, Joann Freeborn and Brenda Richard, and aunts, uncles and cousins. Memorial to STERLING COUNTRY CLUB, c/o Birzer Funeral Home, 203 N. 7th, Sterling KS 67579 Private service will be held at a later date.
