Amelia Ann (Aquilera) Cedeno

Amelia Ann Cedeno, 91, of Lyons, Kansas, passed away June 17, 2019 at Hospital District #1 of Rice County, Lyons. She was born July 26, 1927 in Florence, Kansas, the daughter of Gilbert and Natalia Martinez Aguilera. Amelia graduated from Chase High School, Chase, Kansas, with the class of 1946. She resided in Lyons since 1969, formerly of Chase. Amelia was a homemaker. She was a member of St. Paul Catholic Church, Lyons, St. Paul Catholic Church Altar Society, and VFW Auxiliary, Lyons. On June 10, 1950, Amelia was united in marriage with Joseph Leyva Cedeno in Chase. He preceded her in death on October 13, 2011. She is also preceded in death by her parents; son, Joseph Cedeno; three brothers; and three sisters. She is survived by her children, Gerianne Habiger and husband Virgil of Bushton, KS, John Cedeno and wife Karen of Great Bend, KS, and James Cedeno and wife Cathy of Lyons, KS; eleven grandchildren; fourteen great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; and numerous nieces and nephews. Funeral mass will be at 10:30 A.M., Monday, June 24, 2019 at St. Paul Catholic Church, Lyons, with Father Patrick Kotrba officiating. Burial will be at St. Marys Cemetery, Chase, Kansas. Visitation will be from 5:00 until 7:00 P.M., Sunday, June 23, 2019 at Birzer Funeral Home, Lyons with family present. Parish rosary will be at 7:00 P.M. following visitation. Memorials may be given to St. Paul Catholic Church, Lyons, or American Cancer Society in care of Birzer Funeral Home, Lyons.
