Albert “Dwight” Smyres, 76, of Little River, Kansas, passed away August 10, 2020 at Hospice House, Hutchinson. He was born September 9, 1943 in Little River, the son of Albert LeRoy and Jane Kathleen Yocom Smyres. Dwight was a lifelong Little River resident. He graduated from Windom High School with the class of 1961. Dwight was a retired farmer and rancher. He loved nature, going fishing, playing pitch, and spending time with his friends. He served in the Kansas Army National Guard after high school. Dwight is survived by a nephew, Troy Smyres and wife Kristy of Windom, and their children, Trevor Smyres and wife Katie and their daughter, Josie, and Emily Engelman and husband Ben; niece, Shelley Caldarera and husband Tom of Andover, and their children, David and Natalie Schekall; and sister-in-law, Cheryl Smyres of Wichita. He is preceded in death by his parents, and brother, Mike Smyres. Graveside funeral service will be at 10:30 A.M., Friday, August 14, 2020 at Bean Memorial Cemetery, Little River, with Pastor Ted Weis officiating. Memorials may be made to Hospice of Reno County in care of Birzer Funeral Home, Lyons.
