In our hour of darkness
We wake up to the sound of music,
Speaking words of wisdom, "Let it be"
Rest in peace Alan, you will be sorely missed by all. I will forever remember you as a man who loved his family and friends alike and who never met a stranger. You were kind, sweet, giving and generous -- always helping anyone who asked.
Rupert and Lassie meant the world to you and they were lucky to have you as their owner. I know how devastated, as we all were, when you had to put Rupert down. He is undoubtedly in doggie heaven, where I hope you two are able to play fetch again. As many know, every animal had a home with you. The birds in the backyard never went hungry as their feeders were always full.
We all enjoyed the fruits of your labor from your wonderful vegetable garden. Squash, corn, tomatoes, and cucumbers were shared with family, friends, neighbors, and co-workers. You used your vegetables to make delicious dishes for all sorts of get-togethers.
So many of us were also a part of your life through your amazing music. I was lucky enough to hear you perform and sing in the bands X-Ray Glasses and Just What I Needed, jam with Shaun and friends in his garage, and play with friends in Clear Lake and at Knuckleheads. You always took the time to support local and regional bands by attending their gigs and enjoying in their success.
Alan, what a legacy, what a life -- although way too short. We were each touched by your quiet presence and were made all the better because we could call you our own. Your unconditional love will live on in us all.
