Al “Bud” Ybarra Morales, 92, of Lyons, passed away peacefully January 12, 2021. He was born September 20, 1928 in Lyons, the son of Encarnacion and Antonia Ybarra Morales. He was the last of 10 siblings to pass away. Al was a lifelong Lyons resident. He was a foreman at American Salt Company, Lyons, and worked in the tool room at Enron in Bushton. Al served in the United States Navy during World War II from March 22, 1946 until January 21, 1948. He enjoyed playing golf and softball, loved his grandkids and never missed a grandkids sporting event. On January 19, 1951, Al was united in marriage with Ruth Villalpando. She survives of the home. Al is also survived by his children, Max Morales and significate other Cynthia of Lyons, Alvina Lundquist and husband Brad of Manhattan, KS, Debbie Christianson and husband Tracy of Newton, KS, Susie Morales of Newton, KS, and Tony Morales and wife Thelma; son-in-law, Paul Schartz of Claflin; ten grandchildren, Christopher Schartz of Claflin, KS, Melissa Puetz of Goddard, KS, Luke Schartz of Claflin, KS, Megan Gardner of CO, Jared Lundquist of Hutchinson, KS, Mario Morales of NE, Cassie Morales of Ellinwood, KS, Michele Barron of Newton, KS, Ryan Roemmich of CA, Andy Thompson of Newton, KS, and Justin Thompson of Newton, KS; and fifteen great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents; and daughter, Gerry Morales Schartz. Funeral mass will be at 10:00 A.M., Saturday, January 16, 2021 at St. Paul Catholic Church, Lyons with Father Patrick Kotrba officiating. Burial will follow at Lyons Municipal Cemetery with military honors by the United States Navy. Visitation will be from 5:00 until 7:00 P.M., Friday, January 15, 2021 at St. Paul Catholic Church, Lyons with family present. A Parish Rosary will be said at 7:00 P.M. Memorials may be given to St. Paul Catholic Church or Rice County EMS in care of Birzer Funeral Home, Lyons.
