Wayne Arlin Hogan, 82, of Lyons, Kansas, passed away July 11, 2019 at Hutchinson Regional Medical Center, Hutchinson. He was born August 12, 1936 in Lyons, the son of Carroll and Margaret Cross Hogan. Wayne was a lifelong Lyons resident. He graduated from Lyons High School with the class of 1954, and later from Kansas University School of Pharmacy with the class of 1958. Wayne owned and operated Hogan’s Pharmacy in Lyons from 1971 until retiring in October of 2001. He served in the Kansas Air National Guard from July 1, 1958 until June 30, 1964. Wayne was a member of First United Methodist Church, Lyons, Lyons Rotary Club, Lyons Jaycee’s, co-founder and co-chairman of Rice County Duck’s Unlimited, Goodfellows, Lyons Country Club board member, Lyons Library board member, KU Alumni Association Member, and USD 405 Site Council. He also held Boy Scout classes for the merit badges. On April 5, 1959, Wayne was united in marriage with Linda Koons in Lyons. She survives of the home. He is also survived by his three sons, Jeff Hogan of Osaka, Japan, Gary Hogan and wife Brenda of Little River, KS, and Scott Hogan and wife Cindy of Little River, KS; sister, Janice Allen of Hutchinson, KS; five grandchildren, Christopher and wife Christy, Daniel, Andrew, Keenan and wife Meredith, and Meara; and two great-grandchildren, Elijah, and Noah. He is preceded in death by his parents; and granddaughter, Kara Hogan. Funeral service will be at 10:30 A.M., Monday, July 15, 2019 at the First United Methodist Church, Lyons, with Pastor Kim Shank officiating. Burial will be at Lyons Municipal Cemetery. Visitation will be from 2:00 until 4:00 P.M., Sunday, July 14, 2019 at Birzer Funeral Home, Lyons with family present. Memorials may be given to First United Methodist Church, Lyons or Goodfellows in care of Birzer Funeral Home, Lyons.
