Sandra Lee Carter, 78, of Wichita, passed away July 9, 2018, at Comfort Care Homes, Wichita, Kansas. She was born on September 11, 1939, in Sterling, Kansas, the daughter of Frank and Jennie (Pearson) Savage. She graduated from Sterling High School in 1957 and attended Sterling College. Sandra was a longtime resident of Wichita, and a native of Sterling, Kansas. She married William Winston Carter on November 29, 1959 at Sterling Kansas. He preceded her in death on December 4, 2003. She was also preceded in death by her parents and brother James Savage. She worked at various locations in the medical field. She was a member of the Reformation Lutheran Church, and a former member of Sterling United Methodist Church, Randolph Loving Chapter of the Daughters of the American Revolution, Mayflower Society, and Mayflower Descendants in the State of Kansas. She is survived by her four sons, David Scott Carter and wife Heather McCreery of Estes Park, Colorado, Steven Douglas Carter and wife Shanna of Wichita, Shannon Dean Carter and wife Gina of Midlothian, Texas, and Darin Shawn Carter of Wichita. Eight grandchildren and three great-grandchildren. Funeral service will be at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, July 14, 2018 at the Birzer Funeral Home in Sterling, Kansas, with Dr. Scott A. Rich officiating. Burial will be at Sterling Community Cemetery, Sterling. Visitation will be from 9:00 a.m. until service time Saturday at Birzer Funeral Home, Sterling. Memorials can be made to Sterling College or the Alzheimer's Association in care of Birzer Funeral Home, Sterling, Kansas.
