Norma Jean (Brubaker) Vasconcells

Norma Jean Brubaker Vasconcells, 90, of Lyons, passed away December 3, 2017 at Good Samaritan Society, Lyons. She was born July 29, 1927 in Lyons, the daughter of Charles Oscar and Alberta Frances Kuchera Brubaker. Norma graduated from Lyons High School with the class of 1945, following her graduation she attended Airline Stewardess School in California. She was a lifelong Lyons resident. She was a secretary for the Social and Rehabilitation Services in Lyons from 1966 to 1985. She also worked as a pharmacist clerk for Buntings and Fankhauser Pharmacy in Lyons and was a homemaker. Norma was a member of the Christian Church, Lyons and attended the First Baptist Church, Lyons. On October 13, 1948, Norma was united in marriage with Ross Quintal Vasconcells in Lyons. She is survived by her husband, Ross Vasconcells; daughter, Mary Jo and John Berkheimer of Lyons; two sons, Roger and Joyce Vasconcells of Sykesville, MD, and Ben and Nanette Vasconcells of Linthicum, MD; eight grandchildren; and twelve great grandchildren; brother-in-law, J. Fred Williamson of Lyons. She was preceded in death by her parents; three brothers, Rodney Brubaker, Hugh Brubaker, and Charles Brubaker; two sisters, Ruth Burgess and Nancy Williamson. Funeral services will be 10:00 A.M., Thursday, December 7, 2017 at the First Baptist Church, Lyons with Pastor Joel Grizzle officiating. Burial will be at Lyons Municipal Cemetery following services at the First Baptist Church. Visitation will be from 2:00 to 7:00 p.m., Wednesday, December 6, 2017 at Birzer Funeral Home, Lyons with family present from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. Memorials can be made to Bell and Star Fund in care of Birzer Funeral Home, Lyons.
