Mary Catherine (Zongker) Spear

Mary Catherine Spear, 59, of Lyons, passed away March 12, 2018 at Hospital District 1 of Rice County, Lyons. She was born on August 19, 1958 in Houston, TX, the daughter of Dwight and H. Joan Brosius Zongker. She graduated from Buhler High School with the class of 1976. Mary has resided in Lyons for the past 5 years, formerly of Dwight, KS. She was a CNA for 18 years. Mary was a member of the United Methodist Church, Lyons. On October 3, 1979, Mary was united in marriage with Edward Spear in Frederick, KS. He survives of the home. She is also survived by her three sons, Skyler and Billie Spear of Hutchinson, KS, Joey and Tiara Spear of Winfield, KS, Edward Spear of El Dorado, KS; daughter, Carman and Chad Lanier of TN.; sister, Patricia and Rick Green of Graham, WA.; sister-in law, Jane Zongker of South Hutchinson, KS; sister, Vicki Brogan of Hutchinson, KS; 11 grandchildren, Bree-Anne, Lacy, Kaylee, Ivan, Koby, Nykolis, Rylee, Tara, Josh, Alia, Ethan; and beloved dog Lola. She was preceded in death by her parents and a brother, Phil Zongker. A private service will be held at a later date. Memorials can be made to Mary C. Spear Memorial Fund in care of Birzer Funeral Home, Lyons.
