Martin Edgar John

Martin E. John, 74, of Lyons, passed away March 9, 2019 at Good Samaritan Society of Lyons, Kansas. He was born October 2, 1944 in McPherson, Kansas, the son of Leonard E. and Elsie Lighthill John. He graduated from Lyons High School with the class of 1963. Martin was a longtime Lyons resident. He was a wedding and school photographer in Lyons; and worked at Disability Support of the Great Plains. Martin was a member of Nazarene Church of Buffalo, KS; and was active in 4-H. On September 4, 1963, Martin was united in marriage with Ruth Ann Johnson in Little River, KS. She survives of the home. He is also survived by his son Bryan John of Lyons; two daughters, Deborah Payne and husband Kenneth of Sterling, and Shannon Triplett of Kansas City, MO; two sisters, Vivian Gobin and husband Dwayne of Hutchinson, KS, and Ginger John of Bellingham, WA; ten grandchildren; and fourteen great-grandchildren. He is preceded in death by his parents. Funeral service will be 2:00 P.M., Wednesday, March 13, 2019 at Birzer Funeral Home, Lyons with Rev. Robert Friesen officiating. Burial will be at Bean Memorial Cemetery. Visitation will be from 1:00 P.M. until service time. Memorials may be made to Friends of Animals Rice County in care of Birzer Funeral Home, Lyons.
