Martha Fern Hamous, 87, of Sterling, passed away August 16, 2018 at Good Samaritan Society, Lyons. She was born July 12, 1931 in Keyes, Oklahoma, the daughter of Leonard and Elsie Whiteman Black. She graduated from Hoisington High School, Hoisington, KS. Martha resided in Sterling for the past 46 years, formerly of Tribune, Kansas. She was a certified medication aide at Lyons Good Samaritan Center for six years. On September 28, 1949, Martha was united in marriage with Gene Hamous in Raton, New Mexico. He survives of the home. She is also survived by her four daughters; Patricia Frese and husband Dayrl of Spring Branch, TX, Karla Nemechek and husband Larry of Hugoton, KS, Christie Mullikin and husband Ridge of San Antonio, TX, and Stacey Wilder and husband Bill of Lyons, KS; brother, Waive Winter of Tribune, KS; sister, Yvonne Folsom of Tribune, KS; seven grandchildren; seventeen great-grandchildren; and one great-great grandson. She was preceded in death by her parents; step-father, Fred Winter; and brother, Paul Black. Visitation will be 5:00 to 7:00 P.M., Monday, August 20, 2018 at Birzer Funeral Home, Lyons with family present. Memorials may be made to Hospice and Home Care of Reno County in care of Birzer Funeral Home, Lyons.
