Lillie Lucile (Lighthill) Whiteman

Lillie Lucile Whiteman, 91, of Lyons, passed away May 22, 2019 at Hospital District #1 of Rice County. She was born June 16, 1927 in Little River, Kansas, the daughter of Louis C. and Nita Sims Lighthill. She graduated from Little River High School, with the class of 1946, and later graduated nursing school in Hutchinson, Kansas. Lillie has resided in Lyons since 1948, formerly of Little River. She was a medical technologist for many years, retiring in 1992. Lillie was a member of the First Presbyterian Church, Lyons, and Daughters of the American Revolution. On January 31, 1948, Lillie was united in marriage with Roy “Ivan” Whiteman in Little River, KS. He preceded her in death on August 16, 1982. She is also preceded in death by her parents; son, Keith Whiteman; and six sisters. Lillie is survived by her daughter, Kay J. Higgins and husband Jesse of Lyons; four grandchildren; six great grandchildren; and three great-great grandchildren. A private graveside service will be held at Bean Memorial Cemetery at a later date. Memorials may be given to the Lyons Bell & Star Fund in care of Birzer Funeral Home, Lyons.
