Janice Ardell (Halvorson) LaTourell

Janice A. LaTourell, 83, of Lyons, passed away May 6, 2018 at Hospital District #1 of Rice County. She was born August 25, 1934 in Blue Earth, Minnesota, the daughter of Arthur E. and Clara Adea Quam Halvorson. She graduated from Rake High School with the class of 1952. Janice has resided in Lyons since 1974, formerly of Emmetsburg, Iowa. She was a housewife and fine mother to four boys. Janice was a member of Grace Lutheran Church, Lyons; member of the Lyons Town and Country Club Women’s League; volunteer at the Thrift Shop, Lyons; and a past board member of Sunflower Diversified Services of Great Bend. She enjoyed going on motorhome trips with her husband Dave. On May 24, 1953, Janice was united in marriage with David LaTourell in Rake, Iowa. He preceded her in death on May 20, 2007. She is also preceded in death by her parents; son, David H. LaTourell Jr.; three brothers, Ernie, Marion, and Arden Halvorson; and two sisters, Eileen and Gladys. She is survived by her three sons, Paul and Mary LaTourell of Lyons, Jim LaTourell of Lyons, and Dan and Cathy LaTourell of Sterling; brother, Harris and Mabel Halvorson of Kingston, RI; and three grandchildren, Carlie Jane Becker, Lucas Daniel and Cylie Janice. Funeral service will be 10:00 A.M., Friday, May 11, 2018 at Grace Lutheran Church, Lyons with Pastor Merlyn Lohrke and Vicar Kenton Abbott officiating. Burial will be at Lyons Municipal Cemetery. Visitation will be from 4:00 to 7:00 P.M., Thursday, May 10, 2018 at Birzer Funeral Home, Lyons with family present. Memorials can be made to Grace Lutheran Church in care of Birzer Funeral Home, Lyons.
