JEAN M. (PARTINGTON) BAKER

                Jean M. Baker, 96, of Sterling, passed away November 17, 2017 at Sterling Presbyterian Manor. She was born October 14, 1921 in Rice County, the daughter of Clarence and Mae Belden Partington. Jean graduated from Lyons High School with the class of 1940. She has resided in Sterling since 1951, formerly of Russell, and Nickerson, KS. She was a member of First United Methodist Church, Sterling; and a Life Member of VFWA John Ferguson Post 3184, Lyons, KS. On February 24, 1941, Jean was united in marriage with Ralph Charles Baker in Newton, KS. He preceded her in death on October 30, 1999. She was also preceded in death by her parents; son, Kenneth Neal Baker; daughter-in-law, Patricia Baker; and a grandson, Bryant Dean Baker. Jean is survived by her son, Carl and Rhonda Baker of Hutchinson, KS; daughter, Annie and Philip Short of Burrton, KS; six grandchildren, Drew, Kenny, and Kevin Baker, Ashley Zahn, Karen O'Keefe, and Haylie McMurry; nine great grandchildren, Carter, Evan, and Grant Zahn, Alex, Kai, and Minah Baker, Will, Destiny, and Kennedy McMurry. Graveside services will be 10:00 a.m., Wednesday, November 22, 2017 at Sterling Community Cemetery with Rev. Kendal Connor officiating.  Visitation will be from 2:00 to 7:00 P.M., Tuesday, November 21, 2017 at Birzer Funeral Home, Sterling with the family present from 5:00 to 7:00 P.M. Memorials can be made to Sterling Presbyterian Manor or Kindred Hospice in care of Birzer Funeral Home, Sterling.
