Helen Marie (Loreg) McKenna

Helen Marie McKenna, 95, of Lyons, passed away November 14, 2019 at Medicalodges of Great Bend, Kansas. She was born February 10, 1924 in Codell, Kansas, the daughter of Michael and Eva Cline Loreg. Helen has resided in Lyons for forty some years. She was a song writer, painter, and worked in restaurants for many years. Helen was a member of St. Paul Catholic Church, Lyons. Helen was united with Harold Gossett and had six children. He preceded her in death on October 30, 1977. Helen was united in marriage with Loyal E. McKenna in Liberal, Kansas. He preceded her in death on January 28, 2008. She is also preceded in death by her parents; and two sons, Larry and Gary Gossett. Helen is survived by her two sons, Kenneth Gossett and wife Anne of Otsego, MN, and Duane Gossett and wife Kelly of Sorrento, FL; two daughters, Evelyn Stull of Ft. Morgan, CO, and Lillian Lenherr and husband Joe of Wamego, KS, four brothers, Melvin, Mike, Dean, and Darrell Loreg; two surviving sisters, Marjorie Boeckner of Hays and LaDonna Lytle of Great Bend, KS; many grandchildren, and many great-grandchildren. Funeral Mass will be at 11:00 A.M., Saturday, November 16, 2019 at St. Paul Catholic Church, Lyons with Father Patrick Kotrba officiating. Parish Rosary will be said at 10:30 A.M. at the church. Burial will be at 3:00 P.M., Saturday, November 16, 2019 at Paradise Cemetery, Codell, Kansas. Visitation will be from 10:00 a.m. until service time at the church, with family present. Funeral arrangements are being handled by Birzer Funeral Home, Lyons.
