Harold Homer Drake, 101, of Lyons, passed away February 4, 2018 at Rice County District 1 Hospital, Lyons. He was born February 20, 1916 in Wilson Township, Rice County KS, the son of Homer and Clara May Shepherd Drake. He graduated from Alden High School with the class of 1934. Harold was a lifelong Rice County resident, an avid hunter and fisherman, with a love for the outdoors. He was a carpenter for the Lyons Salt Plant for 25 years and farmed for 18 years. Harold was a member of the Faith Bible Church, Lyons. On March 3, 1937, Harold was united in marriage with Sylvia Ella May Long in Alden, KS and were married for 78 years. She preceded him in death on June 9, 2015. He is also preceded in death by his son, Byron Drake; two brothers, Curtis and Francis Drake; and sister, Agnes Bedient; He is survived by his five children, Harold Wayne and Jackie Drake of Bonita Springs, FL, Donna and Jim Halloran of Prosper, TX, Robert Dean and Michelle Drake of Omaha, NE, David Lee and Kay Drake of Wichita, KS, and Terry Lynn and Lisa Drake of Olathe, KS; brother, Richard Drake of Lyons; thirteen grandchildren; thirteen great grandchildren; and seven great-great grandchildren. Celebration of Life Services will be 10:00 A.M., Saturday, February 10, 2018 at the Faith Bible Church, Lyons with Rev. Phil Green officiating. Burial will be at the Lyons Municipal Cemetery, Lyons. Visitation will be from 2:00 to 7:00 P.M., Friday, February 9, 2018 at Birzer Funeral Home, Lyons, with family present from 5:00 to 7:00 P.M. Memorials can be made to the Faith Bible Church, Lyons in care of Birzer Funeral Home, Lyons.
